Amy Shackleton’s Liquid Landscapes

This is a video that almost needs no corresponding text…but we’re going to write some nonetheless.

The clip condenses 30 hours of Toronto artistĀ Amy Shackleton creating her new work Terraced City into a two-minute time-lapse, through which the effects of her brushless technique can really be seen.

Twenty-five year-old Shackleton uses squeeze bottles to apply paint to her canvas, spinning them on an axis to guide the paint in a method that is almost reactionary; the artist has anĀ innate sense and understanding of the nature of paints, knowing where each drop needs to go and what it requires to get them there.
