Like many things once committed to middle age (we’re looking at you, cardigans and sudoku)—homewares are so totally cool now. Tea cosies to make your tea look cosy, towels for fashionable drying; Melbourne art partners and power-couple Aisling Gallagher and Neil Hargreaves have it printed, packaged and personally perfected.
From their small studio in trendy Melbourne suburb Brunswick, the couple create clean, Scandinavian-influenced hand-printed textiles. Crisp lamps, scatter cushions, tea towels and an array of winsome homewares construct their handmade Designed in Brunswick (d.i.b) brand.
Both Aisling and Neil have backgrounds in photography, design, textile design and visual merchandising, making their venture into textile printing a smooth one. After their local aesthetic had been recognised by traders on online handmade and art marketplace Etsy, d.i.b recently held a Pop Up Shop from their studio in Evans St., Brunswick. This video done by BATCHEDIT, showcases their craft and fine handiwork in the preparation for the grand opening.
So, if you’re kicking yourself for missing it, you can always visit their online Etsy shop for some practical goodies. From their place to yours.
