Television is something that most Americans would consider an activity that helps them relax. After a long day at work, who wouldn’t want to get in comfy clothes, snuggle up on the couch and watch their favorite television shows? Well unfortunately for DirecTV subscribers, some of your favorite television shows and the channels that they call home may no longer exist.

At midnight (last night/this morning?) the contract between major company Viacom and DirecTV expired, meaning that major channels such as MTV, Nickeloden, BET, Spike, Comedy Central, VH1 as well as 20 others will not be available to those who use DirecTV — leaving the grand total of 26 channels at a loss and a subsequent smoke bombing exit by an unlimited number of television shows.

Here at Portable, we would like to mourn with you, as we say goodbye to one of our favorite love/hate networks, MTV. Here are 15 reasons why we will (or will not) miss MTV.
