With a user base of over 100 million users and counting, you could say Twitter is a popular social network alright, where tweets, trending and constant updates (mundane, copied, important or otherwise) are rife. One vehement Anti-Twitterer you could call it, however, is stand-up comedian Louis C.K., who thinks Twitter and all that it stands for is “awful”.
In this clip, he tackles the Twitter debate on Conan, regaling why he’s even on Twitter (“I tell people what to buy and they pay me”), why Twitter is like a piece of cake (just because it’s there doesn’t mean you have to eat it) and most importantly, why he’s not a fan of the constant Twitter culture of faux-remembering. He believes people are now looking at the world and any important events that happen (i.e. Olympics, fireworks) through their three-inch screen phone rather than absorbing it in real life, more concerned with twit pics and trending topics—even if Jesus came back to life hypothetically (“Oh my god, Jesus is trending”)!
