It was Derek Jarman who said that “painters use red like spice”. Perhaps it’s because red is so emotionally intense; red stimulates enthusiasm and energy, encourages action and confidence. And they (the internet) say that red stimulates a faster heartbeat—this could be why a woman in red is irresistible. Works for Valentino right? (And didn’t Juno get pregnant wearing a red hoodie?)

So get out your little red dress, and while you’re at it, perhaps a red sweetie to match. But be careful: pretty food can have ugly effects. The same people (the internet) say that Red Dye #40 has the greatest impact on children’s brain function, i.e causes them to go insane!
