Portable Presents Soraya Darabi
on 28 Apr 2011 – 29 Apr 2011There is no doubting the unrelenting forces of social media in modern day life (thank you for clicking away from Facebook to read this). Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, MySpace, Flckr…the list could go on.
So what does this all mean, and more importantly how do you harness the trends of social media and the internet to transform people’s lives and create new businesses? Soraya Darabi — one of America’s most exciting and influential social media commentators — will answers all of these questions and more, as she presents a series of talks with Portable across Australia.
Based in the New York, Soraya is a thought-leader in her field. She is the co-founder of Foodspotting.com — one of the hottest start-ups on the internet — and started her career by helping to revolutionise the New York Times online. Recently she reported on the Arizona shootings as part of her role as social media commentator for ABC Television in America. She also acts as a global ambassador for the United Nations digital project Global Pulse.
Soraya will presents talks about emerging technology, social media and global online trends. She will also be joined by Washington Post fashion writer Holly Thomas, another online media expert, who will talk more informally about how social media is changing society in the United States and globally.
