Agyness Deyn’s First Love

Everyone remembers their first pair of Dr. Martens. From not knowing you had to ‘break them in’ first and nursing hideous blisters on your heels, wearing them with a uniform of black, or hearing your mother talk about her first pair and realizing that maybe your parents weren’t a different species and were, at some point in time, cool.

Dr. Martens Spring/Summer 2012 collection plays on these memories, but this season they set out to re-educate the customer from simply reminiscing about their first pair of Dr. Martens to wanting to wear them forever, resulting in the campaign First and Forever, a collection of firsts, moments and experiences.

Who better to front the campaign than punk, British model Agyness Deyn? During this short film from the new series, Deyn describes her first love, portrayed here by Ash Stymest. Another first we can all relate to—a sweet moment in time Deyn describes as “when you decide to enter into a relationship with someone because you think that person is rad”—the tender moments of snogging all day and the enviable first heartbreak that often follows.

The concept, lead by this film, encourages people to share their stories of firsts—their first kiss, first love, first heartbreak and ultimately their first pair of Dr. Martens.
