Donatella Versace has heralded the arrival of The Very Best of Versace for H&M collection with the release of a black and gold-tinged short film documenting the mindset of the Versace brand’s omnipresent mistress as she oversees the production of her soon-to-be released mass-produced mannequins.

In order to get their first glimpse of the cheap chic collection, Versace voyeurs are invited into Donatella’s fantasy control room to watch as she spies on her tiny marionette models Lindsey Wixson and Daphne Groeneveld. The girls oversee replica production within their elaborate mannequin machine and, whilst the big boss pushes buttons and pulls strings, these good little girls do as they are ordered, thus ensuring the quality of the collection. Well, that’s what the underlying innuendo suggests anyway.

The result of Donatella’s twisted determination is an affordable designer collection of updated interpretations of Versace’s signature looks, complete with chain mail shift dresses, heavily studded leather jackets, black basics, and tropical-inspired floral or leopard print skirts, tops, leggings and, H&M’s first ever designers collection homewares.

Let’s just say that if the film is anything to go by, the folks behind Versace for H&M—which is scheduled for release in the UK on November 17 and online and in selected US stores on November 19—are expecting this collection to well and truly leave both crowds and in-store mannequins unhinged.
