Lilya, by Lisa Chedanne, is an Australian label “inspired by the beauty of nature and sentimental experiences”. Chedanne’s uncomplicated design aesthetic comes from a love of music, travel and wide open spaces, which she has fused with folk references of the 1960s and 70s since the label’s launch in 2007. This can be seen in her gorgeous Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, Elemental, which combines exceptional filmic elements with a label rich in a sophisticated approach to colour, cut and fit.
Cutting her teeth with the likes of Belinda, Giorgio Armani and Loewe, in areas of retail, buying, wholesale and design, Chedanne is no stranger to the fashion industry, and Lilya is an extension of this knowledge. In just over three short years, Chedanne’s designs have been featured in fashion bibles Yen, RUSSH, Marie Claire and Sunday Life amongst others, showcasing her wide appeal to girls and women of all ages.
Directed by Nat Lanyon and starring Talia Richman, the fashion film for Autumn/Winter 2012′s Elemental, encapsulates Lilya’s overall aesthetic, highlighting subtle feminine touches and classic styling with a clear throwback to the Woodstock era with flowing garments, natural patterns, hardware jewellery and oversized hats featuring heavily. The effervescent Lilya girl is also explored through this medium, as a free spirit not afraid to venture into the great unknown, at one with the elements.
