In Film For Aina, a naive young girl wakes up, naked and alone, on an isolated beach and begins collecting pieces of a garment in a forest, before emerging on the other side a dark and strong, otherworldly figure.
The ethereal film was made by Anna Rose and Jen Lame—a photographer/videographer and editor, respectively—to compliment and give a visual guide to the inspiration behind designer Aina Hussain’s garment, which was chosen to hang alongside Alexander McQueen‘s. A panel—which included McQueen’s creative director Sarah Burton and The Costume Institute’s curator Andrew Bolton—selected a dress by the Norwegian Parsons student’s to be showcased at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of Savage Beauty, the Met’s retrospective of McQueen’s work.
If that weren’t a great enough honor for both the designer and filmmakers, Film For Aina has also been selected as part of the 2011 Peace on Earth Film Festival. With such impressive credits already, we’re beyond proud to exclusively give Film For Aina a home online!
