Gucci’s Gatsby-Inspired Gear

Even though she won’t be making an appearance in the new adaption of The Great Gatsby,in the new ad campaign for Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection, we can still catch a good glimpse of model Abbey Lee in some smoking twenties-inspired designs.

As first seen at September’s Milan Fashion Week, the collection features a mosaic of geometric lines and shapes and foundation of metallics and emerald on black.  The fringing and drop-waist structure of many of the dresses give them theirs 20s edge—a Daisy dressed by Gucci for the 21st century.

Starring alongside the Australian model in the suggestive short fashion film is Karmen Pearu from Estonia, with Greg Nawrat as the token male.  Their sleek styling and the opulence of the hotel setting makes the clothes as desirable as those wearing them.  The video was directed by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, whose clients include Luis Vuitton, Armani, Kenzo and Fendi.  Having shot Gucci’s A/W collection with Abbey last season, the series of gold-tinted photographs and video feature more stunning shots and stay true to the luxury that is Gucci.

No Leo DiCaprio, though.
