Jason Wu For Target

Jason Wu has joined a long list of high-end designers partnering with Target for a fun, feminine and modern collection inspired by “the vision of an American girl in Paris” infused with a distinctly 1960s aesthetic. This strong vision is evident throughout the fifty-three piece limited edition line with the repeated use of bows, stripes and A-line silhouettes. Nautical colours are also seen throughout the collection, along with mustard and black.

The short and sweet commercial features Wu’s feline friend as he helps in adding the final touches to the collection, giving the audience sneak peak at a few key pieces. The kitty in the commercial is called Miu, has been cited as Wu’s muse and wears a chic, red scarf—a common motif throughout the collection that is featured on totes, scarves and t-shirts.

When asked about the range, Wu has said that he has catered to what he believes American women want. He has created a line that he describes as “a little mischievous, a little nonchalant” whilst remaining versatile, timeless and “something that can be enjoyed for not just one season”.

The collection is set to hit stores at 6am on February 5th and is highly anticipated. With price points ranging from $19.99 to $59.99, it’s insanely affordable. Considering the previous Target collaboration by Missoni was so popular that it sold out in some stores within a matter of hours and was responsible for crashing Target’s entire website, we hope Target’s a little more prepared for this launch.
