Karlie Kloss Takes On London’s Mean Streets

The creative entity that is Nick Knight‘s SHOWstudio is at it again, this time setting out to bring the Mean Streets into a fashion-forward film.  Starring long-limbed all-American girl Karlie Kloss and Puerto Rican pouter Joan Smalls, the fashion film explores the seedy underground of London’s nightlife.

Shot in collaboration with British Vogue for their March issue, the shoot embodies rockabilly and tomboy styles of the Spring/Summer 2011 collections shown in the film. From chic Chanel to embellished Miu Miu, and structured Givenchy, each piece is an updated version of classic suiting.  Metallics, silks and brights feature heavily in the editorial along with rockabilly quiffs and cats-eye eyeliner to compliment the heavily masculine ensembles.

Kloss and Smalls take on their characters with ease as they strut through the abandoned streets taking cues from the likes of Buddy Holly and a young John Lennon. With luxurious washes of colour over each scene, the fluorescent lights create a subtle yet interesting look behind the scenes of Knight’s sleek and timeless editorial.
