Salvatore Vitale (aka Kale Akte) is one fashion photographer to keep your designer spec eye on with his new short video entitled Kate Ravano, a heady and stylish short editorial aptly named after his similarly intriguing model and muse who stars in the flick.
A buzzing tune by Mute Speaker and Vitale’s fast paced, sexy cinematographic style are matched by Ravano’s effervescent performance. She showcases an endless and impressive gamut of facial expressions and body gesture imaginable—a cheeky smile, frustrated snarl, scrunch up of the tank top and free-spirited dancing twirl, using only her hands, body, top and pearls she’s wearing as props, Ravano manages to captivate us for the flick’s almost two minutes in length entirety. Tyra Banks would most definitely approve.
Vitale’s use of a minimalistic white backdrop, black and white photographic medium and self-described “direction of the model to just express themself as they would in a variety of situations”, ultimately helps to create an intimate portrait of Ravano for the viewer to engage with. As Vitale explains, this aesthetic aims to capture his love for the feminine figure and natural expressivity of his subjects inherent in his other photographic work and this ongoing series of fashion portraits, with this video the second in the series after Gemma Wasson.
