Italian fashion giants Missoni have enlisted revered and highly influential American underground experimental filmmaker, actor and author Kenneth Anger to create a short film that represents Missoni’s Fall/Winter collection for 2010/11. Anger’s aesthetic is surreal, fantastical and textural expressing themes of the occult, and have been described as containing “elements of erotica, documentary, psychodrama, and spectacle”. This short film depicts an elusive and ethereal Anger narrative with all members of the Missoni family modeling the collection in locations near bodies of water in the Sumirago countryside, part of Rosita and Ottavio’s garden and a basement room with a vaulted ceiling. The resulting film is a rich and tactile kaleidoscopic montage, woven together with dreamy, lush colours and ephemeral glimpses of unique patterns, patchwork motifs, stitches, knits, and styles that define the Missoni brand and expresses its sophistication and imagination.
