Matias & Mathias’ Explosive Heresy

Norwegian filmmaker duo Matias & Mathias have collaborated with fashion line Bjorg Jewellry to create a highly dramatic fashion film for their 2012 campaign. Starring models Maja and Julie, Heresy is muted in colors, but not in intensity and moodiness. Lasting a little under three minutes, the film packs a punch and presents an intriguing storyline, in which the two icy blondes trudge across a desolate plain, intent on causing harm.

Heresy was created with a similar visual approach as other Matias & Mathias fashion films, like From This Day To Where and Time Away. The eye’s perceived quietness strongly counteracts the events taking place, subtly underlining the strong emotive elements meant to really attract our attention. In Heresy‘s case, it’s the sight of a beautiful girl being doused with gasoline and set aflame by an innocent-seeming friend. The film is a perfect example of a narrative fashion film: provocative while highlighting a bauble or two.
