Miuccia Prada’s Resort 2011 collection for her beloved label Miu Miu was full of fun. Its models were all 70s vibes with platform shoes, short shorts, bell-bottoms and crimped hair. The fabrics featured heart and apple shapes, polka dots and nautical stripes in every colour of the rainbow. It just screamed “classy corporate broads on a holiday retreat in 1978”.
Inspired by the prints and the lightheartedness of the collection, artist and filmmaker Molly Schiot gave those polka dots and fruit shapes their own personalities and limbs in this new, animated short. Previously creating works for the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Converse, Mark Ronson and Walmart, Schiot created this as collaborative project for Nowness and TheIdeaList and it’s stolen our heart(-shaped lapel pin)s.
