Galliano brought us ready to wear Napoleonic War fashion for Spring 09. Early 2010, Tennessee based Prophetik channeled the American civil war and all things Gone With The Wind in their AW10 collection. But Nom de Guerre, with their collaboration with street wear shoe giant Converse, have done it a little differently.

Incorporating the oppression and rebellion of colonised Algeria and the resulting Algerian war, Nom de Guerre have drawn on both the French colonial army & civilian–based counter insurgency for inspiration.

Nom de Guerre started as a creative collective founded by Holly Harnsongkram, Isa Saalabi, Devon Turnbull, and Wil Whitney. It has now become a name synonymous with young New Yorker’s style. A unique combination of influences from art, fashion, music and various New York City subcultures, the end result is consistently a freshly composed composite of culture and product. The Nom de Guerre for Converse Skid Grip is no exception. A second time collaboration for the two brands, Nom de Guerre’s take on the classic shoe uses traditional fabrics with added high-tech touches to update and improve functionality.
