Italian luxury label Prada looked to a new outlet to make themselves stand out at last week’s Milan Menswear Fashion Week. Alongside their usual array of clean cut, strong jawed male models, some of Hollywood’s finest male leads—including Adrien Brody, Gary Oldman, Victor Carril, Alex Carril, Timothy Roth, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Bell, Garrett Hedlund and Emile Hirsch—took to the catwalk exuding charisma that made the iconic brand the clear stand out of the week.
The collection for their Fall Winter 2012/13 ready-to-wear collection, entitled Il Palazzo, was a tribute to opulence, luxury, royalty and riches. Miuccia Prada said her show was about, “man power”, and how, “through dressing, elegant clothes will always be an instrument of power. Because clothes and elegance contribute to the aura of power.”
Set in a hall fit for a king, the industry’s latest finds stalked across a luxe rogue carpet in intricately tailored suits, double-breasted, quilted coats with fur detailed collars, feminine dress coats in polka dot and pin stripe prints and grandiose overcoats embellished with jewels and medallions. John Lennon-esque red tinted glasses and fabric carnations topped off the elegant baroque looks which Prada put forward for an exhilarating 2012 fashion season.
