Daphne Guinness is not the typical heiress/socialite who spends her money on partying. Instead, Guinness is a collector of couture who in the past has claimed to owning 2,500 pieces of clothing, 450 pairs of shoes, 70 hats and 200 handbags. Last week Guinness held an auction to benefit the Isabella Blow Foundation, achieving world record prices for photos by Mario Testino, and clothing by designers Alexander McQueen, and Christian Lacroix, selling almost all 102 auction pieces.
With Lady Gaga paying $133,075 for an Alexander McQueen dress and $742,000 being raised at the auction, we decided to take a look back at some of Daphne Guinness’ best outfits. Please be advised that the heiress is known for taking fashion risks, especially in the footwear department. We do not recommend you try these at home, that is unless you are an expert at walking in a minimum of 10-inch heels.

Poor global leadership, nuclear or biological war, man’s inhumanity toward man, greed, religious intolerance, exponential growth of human enterprises. I could go on, but they are all overshadowed by global climate change–the environmental time bomb that began ticking with the start of the Industrial Age. I am not talking about saving earth. I’m talking about saving civilization. For the next generation to have a future, we–as nearly 7 billion people living on a planet with finite resources–must immediately begin the process of restructuring the global economy before we reach the tipping point of massive market failure and the collapse of social, economic and government structure. I strongly encourage everyone to read Plan B 3.0 by Lester Brown.
