The handbag, the Pearl Tower and some old Shanghai.

David Lynch has directed the third in a series of Long-Form commercials for Dior, featuring La Vie en Rose actress, Marion Cotillard.

The 16-minute film is basically the only thing Lynch has worked on since Inland Empire (2006), and many news sources are speculating that it may be the only thing we see from the director for some time to come.

The good news is that Collitard is the perfect lead for Lynch, and as the director has a history of forming lasting relationships with his actors, it’ll be interesting to see if she ends up getting written into this rumoured Mulholland Drive sequel I keep reading about.

I guess the only thing that really bummed me out about this commercial was the ‘confused female in hotel with sweeping drone soundtrack’ thing feeling a little rudimentary for Lynch. Also, the whole time I watched, I couldn’t help but think, “Shit, man, enough with the digital formats already. Please go straight back to film and do not pass ‘Go’ lolololol.”
