The Many Identities of Crystal Renn

Crystal Renn entered the world of modeling at the tender age of 14 and was soon appearing in various international Vogue editorials and walking for Jean Paul Gaultier in Paris and on the Chanel runways. Her extensive experience in modeling continues to extend her talent and ability to assume different characters, which is why it’s not surprising that fashion website Stylecaster picked the multi-talented model to showcase some of the best pieces from Marni, Altuzarra and Marchesa through film and editorial.

The first of the three-part series is a fashion film, Surfer, directed by Dusan Reljin and Hilde Pettersen Reljin. Dressed in Marni, Renn dances around against the colourful backdrop, capturing the lighthearted persona of a surfer girl. If you need inspiration for a dance-as-you-get-dressed routine, this is it.

In the second film, Stand By, directed by Jason Last, Renn portrays a more sombre character. Taking inspirations from Aaron Neville’s 1960′s song Wrong Number, a Sex and the City finale and the manic character Lisa Rowe in Girl, Interrupted, the film tells a tale of a woman who can give you moments of charm and perfection, but who privately can become unhinged.

Last but not least, Renn appears in the fashion editorial In Her Skin, photographed by Cameron Krone. Channeling Madonna in her Human Nature video circa 1990, Renn explores the dynamic movement and adds her very own refinement to the character.
