We’re less than a day into Fashion Week for 2011, and already we’re seeing some shows that are sure to be highlights once the week comes to a close.

Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock of Vena Cava indulged in the current 90s resurgence  with a handmade zine distributed to the lucky few in the front row of their Fall/Winter show yesterday, and told Opening Ceremony their inspiration for the collection consisted of  “Janet Jackson, a NY Magazine cover from the 90s with Donna Karan’s face on it and the heading “Corporate Goddess”, and lots of Alaia.”

The collection itself was heavy with headwear, bare midriffs, long skirts, lace and refreshingly wearable footwear, and wouldn’t have looked out of place on a Columbia art student in 1997.
