New York designer Yigal Azrouel embodies the elegant classicism of men’s fashion films to perfection in this video for their menswear Spring 2012 collection. There is a beautiful nod in both the collection and the film itself to a preppy 1980s look; the clothes are long sleeves paired with shorts with khakis and sandy tones the base. The bold primary colors red, yellow and blue feature in key pieces, and there is also a madly delicious pair of blue boots and just a touch of acid wash denim.
Directed by Jennifer Campbell, this film is stop animation at its most stylish. It features the model—Aiden Andrews—on rough edged pieces of paper which are moved and torn to reveal more images underneath. The song was contributed by local electronic boys Glass Hands who created the music especially for this film.
And once you’ve appreciated the beauty of the clothes and the filmmaking, you can go back to furtive Googlings of those male models.
