Working Class Doco

‘Working Class’ is a documentary that is based around Charles Dicken’s novel ‘A Tale of Two Cities’. It follows two American artists Mike Giant and Mike Maxwell from San Francisco and San Diego respectively, as they discuss the themes of Religion, Country, History, War, The Economy and Art which are as relevant today as they were when Dickens wrote the book back in 1859. Taking a leaf out of Julien Temple’s book (Director of ‘Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten’) Jeffrey Durkin approaches the documentary with a less than serious approach making for far more intriguing and revealing discussions between both of the artists.

In May of 2003, Aron Ralston, an avid hiker and thrill seeker, went hiking in the Blue John Canyon in Utah. One thing led to another and he found himself with his arm trapped under a boulder, completely unable to move. He hadn’t told anyone that he would be there, so he knew that no one would be looking for him. After 5 days, delirious with dehydration and hunger, Ralston made the tough call to free himself by breaking and cutting off his own arm.
