127 Hours of James Franco’s blood, sweat and tears

In May of 2003, Aron Ralston, an avid hiker and thrill seeker, went hiking in the Blue John Canyon in Utah. One thing led to another and he found himself with his arm trapped under a boulder, completely unable to move. He hadn’t told anyone that he would be there, so he knew that no one would be looking for him. After 5 days, delirious with dehydration and hunger, Ralston made the tough call to free himself by breaking and cutting off his own arm. Because we all want to see this on screen, Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle made a movie about it.

So now that you’re aware of where this is all heading, there shouldn’t be any surprises. Hottie James Franco is in the lead role of Ralston (he beat out Cillian Murphy and Ryan Gosling, who were both rumoured to take the role) and Lizzy Caplan, Clemence Poesy and Amber Tamblyn are all in supporting roles. The film is due to be released on November 5, so the faint of heart should begin their preparation to make it through the film.
