A Magazine is Born by Little White Lies

The team behind Little White Lies (LWLies) who regularly bring you the latest insights on films decided to make a short film themselves. A Magazine is Born is a short documentary about what goes on behind the making of Little White Lies magazine, from beginning to end. The film was shot over the period of two months (November/December 2010) as the team prepares for the magazine’s 33rd issue. Coinciding with the issue’s overall focus on the latest blockbuster Black Swan, the name of the short doco was inspired by the track A Swan is Born from Black Swan‘s original soundtrack.

“We wanted to make a short film that captured some of the love, care and hand-crafted passion that goes into the making of an issue of LWLies. We produce six issues each year, and for the two month period that we’re working on a particular issue, we totally immerse ourselves in the movie and in the production process. While we obviously embrace digital in all forms, first and foremost we’re makers of honest, tangible and fine-smelling objects, and we hope that comes across in some way here.” – Little White Lies

We enjoyed this video. The fast-pace edit successfully compressed a two-month period into two short minutes without leaving the sense of excitement, frustration and satisfaction that took over the team throughout the preparation of the issue… We see the amount of work and effort that goes into an issue…and yes, cups of tea always help when times are tough.
