Camerimage – The International Film Festival of The Art of Cinematography.

Last years Camera Image Festival in Lodz, Poland drew together some of todays most remarkable DoP’s alive today.

Showcasing their collective knowledge in a series of discussions and master classes. The format of the Festival, which awards films according to their visual, aesthetic and technical values, creates an environment where films are not judged according to the more conventional criteria of story, performance or direction.

Such an environment this year attracted the international film making communities most remarkable DoP’s who’s credits include Raging Bull, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Assassination of Jesse James to name a few.

The festival asserts itself as one of unique ability to entice some of the greatest practioners at work today including Roger Deakins, Rainer Klausmann, Vittorio Storaro, Amy Vincent, John Toll and Michael Chapman who not only attend but host workshops and seminars.

Held annually in the Polish city of Lodz in late November, April’s volume of Sight and Sound also contains interviews with many of the participating DoP’s in the Talking Shop article by contributors Roger Clarke and Edward Lawrenson.
