Television – Catgut. Directed by Craig Bilham from Portable on Vimeo.

If there’s a sure-fire way to ensure the audience is singing along to a song at your next show, it’s to include the lyrics in your video clip. Television, from British band Catgut’s’ 2008 EP Scarlet Pantaloons, is a love song about a television and features a dreamy, static singalong track. Director Craig Bilham is a digital video artist, and utilized the slow pace of the music to highlight the lyrics in a stylish and mesmerizing way, representing the “RGB” of television pixels in the video’s colour scheme.

Television will screen, alongside a collection of other notable past Portable Film Festival winners, at SuperDeluxe@Artspace for the 17th Biennale of Sydney, following a series of informal PechaKucha presentations.

The Portable series promises to be a grab-bag multiplicity of sights and sounds that brings together animations, experimental works, music videos, and narratives from all over the world. PechaKucha and the Portable Screenings begin at 7:30pm on June 10, July 1 and July 22. Book your spot now.
