Student-teacher relationships, city-country relocations, teenage stoners, serial killers and a handful of Sonic Youth references. Daydream Nation, the directorial debut from Michael Goldbach, looks like it’s got it all.
The film stars Kat Dennings (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) as the new girl in town who jumps into bed with her teacher, and Reece Thompson (The Sandlot 2) as a pothead called Thurston (ohhhh) who falls for her.
The film (which takes its name from the 1988 Sonic Youth album) premieres early next month at the Toronto International Film Festival and has a soundtrack that features Broken Social Scene and Emily Haines.
