Drawing Inspiration is a beautiful and affecting short animation from a London design team led by directing duo Tim McCourt and Wesley Louis, and featuring a fantastic combination of soft watercolour-like backgrounds and crisp character action.

Working from a story by McCourt and Steve Stamp, the film tells the story of an old boozehound whose daily routine is interrupted when he discovers a mysterious series of notes stuck to his park bench. He meets a young boy called Louis, with whom he forms a bond that (spoiler alert) sets him back on the straight and narrow.

The film has been taking names and breaking hearts since its premiere on Vimeo last week, and if you’re as fond of it as we are, you’re sure to enjoy the “making-of Louis” video here.
