Never one to let a spare moment go un-used, super-creator and Portable favourite Spike Jonze is back (though, with Where the Wild Things Are, I’m Here, Jackass 3D, Drunk Girls and Scenes From the Suburbs all coming out in the last year-and-a-bit, he never really left) with another short film.

A stop-motion animation created from Olympia Le-Tan‘s felt characters, Mourir Auprès de Toi (which translates to Dying With You or Dying By Your Side) has been kept pretty quiet, plot-wise. From what we’ve seen on Olympia’s blog and in this new behind-the-scenes video from co-director Simon Cahn, though, we can surmise that Mr Jonze is lending his voice to the role of Macbeth and his facial expressions to that of a whale.

French singer Soko plays the role of Mina, his on-screen love interest, while Olympia’s father Pierre Le-Tan rounds out the cast as “the bookseller”. Considering Olympia’s work revolves around recreating famous book titles as accessories (not to mention that parts of the film were shot at the famous Shakespeare and Co. bookshop in Paris), we’ve got a feeling Mourir Auprès de Toi will be a whimsical, literary treat.

The film screened at Opening Ceremony last month. Our fingers and toes are crossed that it comes our way soon!
