The awards season is in full swing, and the biggest show of the season is fast approaching: The Academy Awards.

Unfortunately, the Oscars have become so political (and some might even say rigged) that some of the year’s best films, directors, actors, and actresses don’t even get nominated. That’s definitely the case this year (seriously…no Moonrise Kingdom for ‘Best Picture’? Whyyyyy?).

So we’re trying to remedy that and give some (albeit small) recognition where it’s due; to the films, actors, and actresses that were really, really awesome, but weren’t nominated. We asked our contributors to help us compile a list of the best actors, directors, films, and original songs from 2012.

At our awards, the popular vote will win, and that means you have to pick your favorites. On the night of the Oscars, when everyone is seething about got robbed, who didn’t deserve their award, or who shouldn’t have even been nominated (*coughAnneHathawaycough*), we will release our list of winners.

So check out our list of nominees below. Let us know who you picked by commenting directly on this post, sharing this post on facebook and adding your pick to a facebook comment, or tweeting us your selections. The winners won’t receive a golden naked man statue with a long sword, but maybe that’s actually for the best.
