Thunderant – The Perfect Song on YouTube
For my 200th post here at Portable, I’m way psyched to find an excuse to post a video that, in my opinion, is what LOLs are all about. The Perfect Song is a little piece of brilliance from Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen’s comedy duo ThunderAnt and includes real-life creative power couple Lance Bangs and Corin Tucker, as well as the brilliant lyric, “Alkaline, Clementine, Valentine, Columbine (the flower, not the high school massacre)”.
Former Sleater-Kinney guitarist Brownstein and SNL favourite Armisen have been sharing their sketches online and in vodcasts for a few years now, but fans of the pair no longer have to wait for them to meet up somewhere between New York and Portland to get their comedy on: the IFC network have signed ThunderAnt up to produce a series. Called Portlandia, the series will feature ThunderAnt favourites Toni and Candice, the entrepreneurial ladies behind Portland’s Feminist Bookstore, amongst a slew of other brilliant characters and guest stars including Kyle MacLachlan and Aubrey Plaza.
