Working Class Trailer // 3 min from BREADTRUCK TV on Vimeo.

After stumbling upon this little gem of a trailer I proceeded to trawl the interwebs for more information about the feature documentary. Much to my dismay I wasn’t able to find much else! Not even the website for the production company Breadtruck Films and director Jeffrey Durkin seems to say much about the project.

But in a nutshell ‘Working Class’ is a documentary that is based around Charles Dickens‘ novel ‘A Tale of Two Cities’. It follows two American artists Mike Giant and Mike Maxwell from San Francisco and San Diego respectively, as they discuss the themes of Religion, Country, History, War, The Economy and Art which are as relevant today as they were when Dickens wrote the book back in 1859. Taking a leaf out of Julien Temple’s book (Director of ‘Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten’) Jeffrey Durkin approaches the documentary with a less than serious approach making for far more intriguing and revealing discussions with both of the artists.

The fact that Giant and Maxwell are incredibly honest, fascinating and talented artists in their own right is enough reason to go and see this film!
