Portable is currently looking for two senior software engineers to join the company’s growing team in our Melbourne and New York offices. If you have over five years experience working with a range of languages and web technologies and are looking to work on some innovative online products then we’d love to hear from you. Ideally you will have:
- Experience with a wide range of languages, including PHP, Java, Objective-C
- Web front-end AJAX programming (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript)
- iPhone and Android experience or a passion to learn in these areas
- SQL
- Professional QA experience on a successful mature commercial product is a big plus

If you’re fascinated by social media and understand that successful Tweeting involves more than just reporting your daily eating habits, this might be the role for you. You’ll be in working on social media related projects from daily Tweeting and Facebook-ing of online content, to our weekly newsletter, to creating pitches for more involved promotion including competitions and initiatives with our partners.
You must:
- Have a sound working knowledge of SEO;
- Have an advanced knowledge of platforms including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, Pinterest, StumbleUpon and Tumblr. You should have your own profiles on each of these social sites;
- Be a creative thinker and a self-starter;
- Have a proven record of showing initiative and being able to work independently; and
- Be available a minimum of 2 days a week.

Editorial Intern (New York)
Working directly under our Managing Editor you’ll be doing a variety of tasks from research to reporting, and be given the opportunity to have your voice heard online. There will also be some less exciting organizational tasks, but all your jobs will contribute to you learning how a successful, content driven website is run in a fast-paced environment.
You must:
- Have a sound working knowledge of SEO;

- Be proficient with Google Docs;
- Be up-to-date with pop culture and pop culture related news;
- Be able to discern what type of material suits the Portable voice and aesthetic;
- Have strong expression skills, including spelling and grammar, and a compelling, intelligent voice;
- Be a creative thinker and a self-starter;
- Have a proven record of showing initiative and being able to work independently; and
- Knowledge of WordPress is preferred.

Production Intern (New York)
Portable is seeking a Production Intern to assist on a range of activities internally and for Svbscription, a luxury curated service for men. Activities include, assisting the Producer to package and send parcels; event planning and producing; compiling media lists; building social media following; and general office duties.
