We just received the latest issue of I Love You, which is the work of art director Christiane Bördner and photographer Marcus Gaab, both based out Berlin, both actually in love through an old fashioned knot-tying ceremony a few years ago. It’s a fresh combination of fashion photography and self-help-chic philosophy bundled together in the form of a magazine.
We wrote to Christiane, just to say I Love You and she wrote back. So we asked her a few questions (see below)
I Love You?
The idea to do a magazine is a dream which I was dreaming forever. In 2009, with not being too busy, I thought it would be the perfect time to start it… not doing it was hurting so bad that I had to get it going. My idea with all the fashion blogs around done by little girls was to create something personal and emotional, so “I Love You” was born.
What do you love about it?
I like our attitude and the combination of fashion and philosophy. We don’t write about fashion we are more interested in identity, the sense of life and what makes people happy. I don’t want it to be too intellectual; it should be easy to understand and accessible, fashion fun. I want the reader to feel good once they read it and finish it with a smile.
What’s the hole in our hearts that it’s filling?
This question is always very hard for me to answer because I am an insider so this can only be answered by the readers I guess. First of all it is for all the people out there who still love printed magazines, great photography and graphic design. But as I get a lot of feedback, people especially women from all over who tell me that they are happy that they have found a women’s magazine they were looking for for a long time. I think we have a very modern women’s attitude and we don’t talk about famous people: I would like to talk about everybody, all the people who make life worth living and to make the reader think about him/her self and how special we all are. Everybody wants to be loved.
