Portable: When did you first start taking photographs, and what was your first camera?

Jason Hindley: When I was about twenty. As cheesy as it may sound, I was dating a girl who was doing a bit of modelling and this first got me interested in photography when she showed me her portfolio. I thought: I could do that. Before, it hadn’t even crossed my mind that you could make a living out of photography. So I traded in my dad’s Minolta 7000 with a 9000 and took loads of pictures of my girlfriend on holiday. This then led to me getting into an art college and I never stopped shooting since.
