A native New Yorker, photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis has left a trail of fans behind her as she gravitated from the east coast to the west, before settling in London. Having shot for the likes of London Fashion Week, i-D, Teen Vogue, Supreme, Topshop, Liberty and Nike, her intimate portraits show subjects at ease; from celebrities to kids on the street, her photographs are casual, sweet and surprising.
Last month saw her work exhibited in a show called This Charming Man, her first major solo show, at east London’s Londonewcastle Showspace. Filled with images of the best (and best-looking) men in her life, the show drew crowds for a solid two weeks and saw Mark “Charming Man” Ronson DJ at the party of its opening night. See what we mean about Shaniqwa collecting fans everywhere she goes?
While This Charming Man is no longer showing in London, it will be making its way to Tokyo in October and hopefully to the Parsons graduate’s hometown not long after that. Have a look through some of Shaniqwa’s work below and get in line behind us to see it in person!
