Photographer Richard Renaldi began his Touching Strangers project as a way to explore the dynamics of portraiture, as well as those between people. Renaldi meets two or more of his subjects on the street -people who are strangers both to him and each other – and instructs them to touch each other somehow. Occasionally the people in the photographs looks so different from one another that you get the feeling you’re looking at kids playing the dress up (I’m looking at you, “Bride and Gangster”), but mostly you just get the urge to go out and rest your hand on a stranger’s arm. In a way that’s only a little bit weird for both of you.
