Remember when indie pop was just Ben Gibbard singing about that photo booth? Or when Win Butler screamed about power outages and funerals and Haiti? Remember chillwave!?! Well today, indie pop has assumed a golden age, thanks in part to the blissful Beach House, Chairlift‘s 80′s charm and Grimes‘ experimental themes. The genre needs not a striking definition except for remaining addictive, consuming and melodic. Here are 5 new faces, bound to break through, and range from definitively lush to California-vintage to some good ol’ Brooklyn dance-pop.
