Her first solo venture dropped digitally in January with the release of a self-titled EP through Beatport, and now the fierce Beth Ditto has paid homage to the original queen of pop with her first music video from the record.
The track is I Wrote The Book, and if it looks familiar, then the visual cues taken from Madonna’s Justify My Love and Vogue are probably the reason. It’s a well-deserved tribute to the icon’s early 90s era, which fits perfectly with the EP’s disco and house-infused sound.
Ditto looks her usual glamourous self in an array of outfits as she sashays around London’s Grosvenor Hotel. We can thank director Price James for the video, who had worked with Ditto once before on The Gossip’s Heavy Cross, as well as having created music video goodness for Hercules and Love Affair, Peaches and Florence & The Machine to name a few.
Those catchy beats behind Beth’s melodies are courtesy of the lads from Simian Mobile Disco, who produced the EP, which is due for a proper release on March 8th.
