The boyfriend-girlfriend duo of Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion who make up Manhattan (by way of San Diego) dream-pop darlings Cults have released the third single from their self-titled album, You Know What I Mean.
The video for The Shangri-Las inspired track—directed by frequent collaborator Isaiah Seret, who also directed the video for Abducted—follows the testing relationship between Follin and Oblivion who moonlights as a carnival daredevil who is involved in a devastating accident.
Follin, who along with Oblivion originally moved to Manhattan to pursue filmmaking recently told LUNA Magazine that they are extremely conscious about how their videos are made:
We absolutely have a lot of input, but because we are so busy touring we really put a lot of faith in our directors, like Isaiah Seret who I trust completely, because we don’t have a lot of time to get things done ourselves. We just finished the video for You Know What I Mean which I’m really excited for. It’s my favourite! That being said we are pretty picky and it takes us a little while to decide on a treatment we want to go with.
