Dum Dum Girls Get Kaleidoscopic

Hailed as one of our girl crushes for 2011, the Dum Dum Girls have once again blessed the masses with a beautiful video busting with rockabilly splendour. The Samuel Macon-directed clip for their latest tune, Bedroom Eyes, is based around a decidedly unassuming landscape, leaving the focus on the wondrously talented quartet.

Hinting at an affinity for kaleidoscopes, the use of them in the clip begins as a playful experiment, and escalates into the merging of almost every facet of the scene, with the bright red lips of singer Dee Dee taking an almost ever-present stance. The end result is a colourful mish-mash of longing and femininity, inspiring an almost adolescent desire.

Swimming with gorgeous, summery, girly riffs, the tune sparks like a surf-pop summer anthem, with hints at a moodiness encapsulated by the subtly gothic yet feminine attire of the women themselves, matching bangs and all.

Dum Dum Girls’ second album ‘Only in Dreams’ is out through Sub Pop records now.
