Girls Take A Trip Downtown

Emerging in 2009 with the catchy track Lust For Life, San Francisco’s, Girls return with Vomit, the first single from their forthcoming second album, ‘Father, Son, Holy Ghost’.

The creation of Christopher Owens and Chet “JR” White, much of the focus of the band’s aptly-titled debut ‘Album’ was on Owens’ incredible backstory (which involved being a member of the Children of God cult, homelessness and a millionaire benefactor). More concerned here with simply, “lookin’ for love,” Owens sighs his way through Vomit—which moves away from their established low-fi persona—while the band throw in elements of psych-rock and gospel backing vocals over seven minutes of mystified Americana.

The video, directed by Austin Rhodes, introduces us to a red Ford Mustang, which we see venturing on a hypnotic road trip on the seedy side of town.  Close-ups of prostitutes hunting for clients are juxtaposed with rose petals falling, igniting the feeling of the song simply being about the good ol’ fashioned quest of finding someone and something who makes you happy.
