This past weekend’s Saturday Night Live show featured host Betty “Rose from The Golden Girls” White and the ladies of SNL alumni (Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Anna Gasteyer, and Rachel Dratch) for a special Mother’s Day episode. Bringing the testosterone to proceedings was musical guest Jay-Z, who performed a brilliant medley of his tracks, including P.S.A., On to the Next One and 99 Problems, before closing with a snippet from Empire State of Mind, with local New York soul singer Bridget Kelly filling in for Alicia Keys.

Over the last few years, Jay-Z’s musical offerings have been secondary to his roles as businessman, Noel Gallagher infuriator, and Mr Beyoncé, but his performance over the weekend is enough to remind everyone of the phenomenal hip hop talent that spurred everything else.
