La Sera’s Third Eye

Vivian Girls bassist and Twitter fanatic Katy ‘Kickball Katy’ Goodman is making her mark as a solo artist after releasing her self-titled debut last year and following up this March with sophomore record ‘Sees The Light.’ The first track from Goodman’s second La Sera offering, Please Be My Third Eye, is “an arcade-riddled time-lapse vortex”, directed by Vice Cooler.

The Brooklyn-based artist’s lyrics and melodies are quirky, contagious and injected with summertime fun, and the video sure does follow suit, with a gang of Goodman’s friends bowling and playing arcade games at double time while she tries her hand at a Madonna-esque Ray Of Light vibe.  According to Goodman’s Twitter

“The whole video was record at 33% speed, so I was lip synching along to the slowest, doom metal-iest version of the song. So fun!”

Recorded under a hazy Californian sun, Please Be My Third Eye, much like most of Goodman’s La Sera tracks, takes distinctive elements from her Vivian Girls work, such as girl-pop vocals and surf riffs and adds a splash of whimsy and nostalgia and makes it the perfect soundtrack to a never-ending summer adventure.  Cooler’s directorial work is relaxed and subdued with close-ups of popping gum and arcade-game soccer men taking centre stage, but not to outdo the heavy ginger-fringed star.
