Liquid Zola Jesus

The word ‘Conatus’ conjures up distant moons and futuristic wanderlust, but its real definition floats a little closer to Earth. Meaning “the tendency of all things to persist in their own being”, perhaps 22-year old Zola Jesus referred to her own personal demons in naming her third and perhaps most anticipated album after this state.

The album teaser is short, succinct and confident. Showcasing glittered sand dunes and liquid metallics cloaked in the echoes of her distinct baritone, the spirit of Conatus is encapsulated through mysterious moving imagery. Dramatic drum beats lend themselves to industrial ambient noises, hinting at a truly exciting album drenched in cinematic melancholy.

A modern throwback to industrial music, goth and the lush soundwaves of dreampop, Conatus is available for pre-order at Sacred Bones Records.
