Mumford & Sons – The Banjolin Song / Awake my soul – A Take Away Show #105 from La Blogotheque on Vimeo.
Those charming beard-having banjo-lovers Mumford and Sons roared into our consciousness with their album Sigh No More last year and stayed there for what felt like a very long time. And yet, watching this video makes us realise that we haven’t heard much more than, well, a sigh from them in a good few months.
They’re back in our ears and on our minds with this live, one-take recording from the Take-Away Shows– prolific Frenchman Vincent Moon’s popular collection of pleasantly unrefined recordings of musical shenanigans.
Filmed back in April, the clip – which features the group translating their track Awake My Soul into French before hunting down a quiet courtyard in which to perform, much to the delight of its owner – was only recently been posted online. After you are pulled out of the Franco-English reverie this video is sure to induce, check out the Mumfords playing the tune at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
