Ok so we’re cheating, no video…. but there is a free track download!

My Disco asserted themselves in the Melbourne music scene back in 2003 with a slew of all-ages shows, where avid music crews dissatisfied with current trends found themselves crammed in tiny venues being filled with the jolts and jaunts of minimalist, post-punk chords and cries thrown at them over disjointed dance-like beats. These subversive sounds were well captured on their 2008 LP Paradise driven by Steve Albini, infamous for his stripped-back style and work with acts like the Pixies, Nirvana and PJ Harvey. The album showcased their raw energy, with several songs consisting of one note, repetitive single-sentence vocals and long-sustained guitar chords.

For their forthcoming release Little Joy, My Disco are working with Sydney stalwart Scott Horscroft, known for his work with acts like Silverchair and the Presets. Horscroft has taken the band’s minimal dynamism and magnified the textural detail with layered vocals, shattering chords, rumbling basslines and subtle complexities which make Little Joy My Disco’s most anticipated release to date.

Little Joy will be released through Shock on Friday the 15th of October. In the meantime, wrap your ears around the first single Turn by downloading it here:
